Joe O'Keeffe has had great success in taking innovations out of Irish universities and research institutes and commercialising them. Joe has served as the main founder, initiator or driving force in over 10 start-ups in the past 14 years. His roles included CEO of Pentus Technologies and COO of MV Technologies, both Irish start-ups in the industrial automation area. Prior to helping found ScienceWorks, Joe served as CEO of SensL and COO of NanoComms Limited, both University College Cork campus company setup to exploit technology for the biophotonics and medical imaging markets. He also served as Chief Commercial Officer with EnBIO, a Cork based start-up commercialising an orthopaedic implant coating technology. Prior to that he was Managing Director of the European arm of Inflow, a US based Data Centre and IT Managed Services Company. Joe worked as a Business Development Manager with Motorola in Russia where he was responsible for the set-up of a joint venture and Motorola’s first manufacturing operation in Eastern Europe. He holds a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering from University College Dublin, an MSc in Computer Applications from Dublin City University and an MBA from Dublin City University.
