Description

Having gained a primary degree (1st Class Honours) in Biochemistry in Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and a PhD from TCD, Margaret conducted university-based technical research for almost 18 years in three different universities within Ireland and in the U.K. She subsequently worked for 6 years in technology transfer with the Irish State Agency “Enterprise Ireland”, spending most of that time running the National Pharmaceutical Biotechnology Centre located in offices in TCD. She was appointed to the newly-created role of Technology Transfer Manager in Trinity College Dublin (TCD) in 2002 where she now manages a team of six professionals with responsibility for the identification, capture, protection and commercial exploitation of intellectual property (IP) arising from research throughout TCD. In the last 5 years, the technology transfer office has received a total of 223 disclosures of novel IP, has filed 120 new patent applications, granted 43 commercial licences and approved the creation of 26 spin-out campus companies.
